Iron Studios proudly presents its first-ever Iron Maiden statue!
Emerging from the twisted trunk of a sinister, dead tree under the eerie glow of moonlight, a Nosferatu-like creature materializes, seemingly crafted from vegetation. With eyes as fiery as embers and a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth, this monstrous figure stretches its long, branch-like arms, its clawed hands and fingers extending menacingly. Its legs are entwined with tendrils, and its feet resemble roots that merge seamlessly into the gnarled wood. Rising from a base of ancient stone bricks, the creature appears to be emerging from a well that plunges into the unknown depths below. Just as darkness evokes a primal fear of the unknown, Iron Studios proudly introduces its inaugural piece inspired by the iconic album art of one of the greatest heavy metal bands of all time: the "Fear of the Dark Eddie - Iron Maiden - Deluxe Art Scale 1/10" statue. This piece captures the eerie zombie mascot of the legendary band, drawing inspiration from the cover of their ninth studio album.
Eddie, also known as Eddie the Head, is the iconic mascot of the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden. A permanent fixture in the band’s artwork, Eddie has graced all their album covers, singles, and marketing materials, including t-shirts, posters, and action figures. He’s also a special presence at all the band’s live shows and the main character in their video games, such as the first-person shooter *Ed Hunter*, the RPG *Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast*, and a 2018 pinball game. Eddie's origins trace back to a papier-mâché mask used in the band’s early stage backdrops. According to Steve Harris, the band’s founding member and bassist, the name "Eddie" came from the mask being referred to as "The Head," which sounded like "Ead" in the band members' London accents. The name was later transferred to an illustration by Derek Riggs, which became the cover of the band’s first album. Riggs exclusively designed Eddie’s artwork until 1992, portraying him in various thematic guises, such as a Crimean War soldier (*The Trooper*), a lobotomized mental patient (*Piece of Mind*), a World War II pilot (*Aces High*), an Egyptian mummy (*Powerslave*), and a cyborg warrior (*Somewhere in Time*), among others. In 1992, the band opened up the creation of Eddie’s image to other artists, launching a contest to update Eddie for the '90s. English illustrator Melvyn Grant won the contest, creating the iconic Eddie for the *Fear of the Dark* album cover.
After teasing fans on World Rock Day, Iron Studios now unveils its first-ever statue of Iron Maiden’s iconic mascot, expanding its line of statues inspired by music legends.
