The Most Playful Member of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in a New Statue by Iron Studios!
Calm and free-spirited, this teenage anthropomorphic mutant turtle with brown eyes and greenish-yellow skin is poised and ready to showcase all his martial arts skills, the result of years of intense training. Wearing only an orange bandana along with his ninja gear - brown elbow and knee pads and a pair of nunchakus - he embodies the essence of fun and loyalty. A pizza lover and sometimes a bit innocent and childish, but always fiercely loyal and affectionate, Iron Studios proudly presents the "Michelangelo - TMNT Movie - Art Scale 1/10" statue, capturing one of the four protagonists of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) group. Known affectionately by his brothers as Mike or Mikey, he is the most fun-loving and playful of the group. It was Mikey who first shouted the iconic battle cry "Cowabunga" in the first episode of the 1987 animated series, a phrase inspired by the triumphant celebratory cry of 1960s surfers. Since then, it has been a hallmark of the group! Michelangelo’s name comes from the Italian sculptor, painter, architect, and poet Michelangelo Buonarroti.
Created in the comic books by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) became a phenomenal success in the 1980s, evolving into a multimedia franchise and garnering a global fan base. The group, formed by four young mutant turtles with humanoid characteristics, were genetically altered by a substance called Mutagen or Ooze. Their father figure and master Sensei, an anthropomorphic rat named Splinter, named them after Italian Renaissance artists. Based in the sewers of New York City, the Turtles stay hidden during the day and embark on missions at night. Their greatest arch-enemy is Shredder, the leader of the Foot Clan. Directed by Steve Barron, the 1990 independent film *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles* presents the origin story of Splinter and the Turtles, their initial encounters with reporter April O'Neil and vigilante Casey Jones, and their first confrontation with the villain Shredder and his criminal ninja group, the Foot Clan. Raphael was portrayed by Josh Pais, the only actor in the film who both physically performed as a Turtle and voiced his character. With a screenplay based on the early comics and elements from the 1987 animated series, the film became the highest-grossing independent film at the time, kicking off the trilogy followed by *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze* (1991) and *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III* (1993). The first live-action adaptation of the mutant quartet, the Turtles' costumes were designed by Jim Henson's Creature Shop, a special/visual effects company founded in 1979 by puppeteer Jim Henson, creator of *The Muppets*.
